Functional pottery needs to relate and respond to the objects and spaces around it. I believe this should be a thoughtful conversation between pots and people and their environments. Making fully hand built, slab built pots has led me to develop a 'short-hand' language of material techniques and artistic expression that feels true to that idea. These are chameleon pots that invite touch and attract attention in use, but can also sit quietly and comfortably on their own. I make my own glazes and use mostly natural and neutral colors. Graphic shapes and soft surfaces are defined by exposed seams and overlapping slab construction. I intend for the designs to feel modern, but to also celebrate clay through signs of the handmade process.

After years of personal and professional work in art and design, the desire to be useful and make useful things led to the creation of ifpottery in 2015.
